1) To benefit charities serving homeless children.
The donations we receive are distributed to them or sold to raise funds on their behalf. Currently, our main beneficiary is the S.A.Y. Yes! Center for Youth Development run by Central City Community Outreach. It provides educational tutoring, nutritional meals, recreation and character development for the roughly 300 homeless children on Los Angeles' Skid Row.

2) To raise funds for local libraries.
Book donations we are unable to sell are re-donated to local libraries and other charities that need books for their programs or to sell in fundraisers. We also provide free donation pick-up services for their patrons who wish to donate large collections to a specific Friends of the Library branch.

3) To keep books, CDs, and DVDs out of landfills!
Books for People is the best way to re-book and be responsibly green with media.

We are a non-profit corporation, with 501(c)(3) status.
